Pilgrimage to
Namaacha

Reportage on the annual pilgrimage to the Virgin of Namaacha, 90 kms west of Maputo, on the Libombo mountains. A spiritual journey, following pilgrims on foot, ending in a candle-lit procession through the tiny town. See it here.

Elderly grannies are accused of withcraft, beaten up, expelled and sometimes murdered. Ignorance, fear, greed and pentecostal preaching fuel the hostility.  This is the link.
